Accra, June 10, 2025 — The High Court, Industrial and Labour Division 2 in Accra, has granted an application by the National Labour Commission (NLC) to serve an interlocutory injunction notice on the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) through substituted service.
The decision comes after the NLC faced challenges in directly serving the GRNMA with the injunction order issued on June 5, prompting a formal motion filed on June 10. Presiding judge, Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori, approved the application and outlined alternative service methods to be used.
Per the court’s directive, the injunction notice is to be posted on the High Court’s notice board and at the main entrance of the GRNMA offices. In addition, digital copies of the notice are to be sent via WhatsApp to GRNMA President, Perpetual Ofori Ampofo, and General Secretary, David Tenkorang-Twum.
The court ruled that the process will be deemed duly served 14 days after the postings, thereby officially notifying the association of the injunction.
The legal development adds a new layer to the already tense standoff between the GRNMA and the government over conditions of service. With negotiations stalled, the injunction is expected to play a key role in shaping the next phase of the dispute resolution process.
