The Ghana Police Service has interdicted five of its personnel after they were captured in viral videos engaging in conduct deemed damaging to the image of the Service.
In a press release issued by the Public Affairs Directorate on May 4, 2026, the Service confirmed that the officers have been withdrawn from active duty pending investigations.

The affected personnel have been identified as Chief Inspector Matthew Blay, Chief Inspector Francis Arthur, Inspector Eric Osei of the Osu Police Station in Accra, Sergeant Amos Dery of the National Protection Unit (NPU), and Inspector Joseph Okyere Asabre of the Obuasi Police District.
According to the statement, the officers have been handed over to the Police Professional Standards Bureau for further investigations in line with internal disciplinary procedures.
“The Ghana Police Service reiterates its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and accountability,” the statement noted, adding that appropriate action will be taken upon the conclusion of investigations.
The Service also assured the public of its dedication to upholding discipline within its ranks and maintaining public trust.
