Greater Accra Regional Minister on February 3, Linda Ocloo has revealed her comprehensive plan to enhance security and sanitation in Ghana’s capital city.
Acknowledging the need for urgent action during her first official meeting as, she announced the reintroduction of the Regional Sanitation Day, as well as a new initiative to recognize the cleanest city in the region.
“Improved sanitation is a key priority,” Ocloo affirmed, while emphasizing that municipal and local district assemblies would be supported in their journey toward self-sufficiency as part of the government’s Resetting Agenda.
The newly sworn-in minister made it clear that decentralization and participatory governance would be central to her efforts.
“I will closely work with traditional authorities, religious organizations, and other stakeholders to deepen decentralization and enhance participatory governance,” Ocloo explained.
She added that empowering MMDCEs and local districts to improve revenue generation would be essential for sustainable development at the grassroots level.
Strengthening Zonal and Area councils will also be key, with continued monitoring and technical support to ensure local governance succeeds as mandated by the Local Governance Act 936.
