Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has been officially removed from the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) wanted list, according to an official statement released by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyabeng on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
This announcement follows communication from Ofori-Atta’s legal team, confirming his scheduled return to Ghana in May 2025 to cooperate with ongoing investigations.
Ofori-Atta, who had been in the United States for medical treatment, was previously declared wanted by the OSP as part of the investigation into corruption-related offences.
However, with confirmation of his return and commitment to cooperate, the OSP has ceased to consider him a fugitive from justice, pending his voluntary return.
The OSP further warned that should Ofori-Atta fail to return on the agreed date, he would be re-listed as a wanted person, and all necessary legal steps would be taken to secure his attendance.
“If Mr. Ofori-Atta fails to attend the OSP on the scheduled date, he shall be re-entered on the OSP’s list of wanted persons and the OSP shall then consider him a fugitive from justice,” the Special Prosecutor stated.
