President John Dramani Mahama has issued a firm directive to all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) across the country to declare their assets by July 15, 2025, in line with constitutional provisions.
Addressing the officials during an orientation and training programme held in Accra on Wednesday, July 18, the President underscored the critical role of transparency and accountability in public service.
“I wish to remind you that you are among the office holders required to declare your assets, and so I expect that by July 15, all of you will have declared your assets,” he stated.
Citing Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates public officers to declare assets before and after their tenure, Mr Mahama warned that defaulters will not be spared.
He emphasized that since taking office in January 2025, he has insisted on full compliance by his appointees, with some already sanctioned for failure to adhere.
“Asset declaration plays a critical role in combating corruption and fostering confidence in public officials,” he added, affirming his administration’s commitment to good governance and constitutional integrity.
