The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor, has filed a defamation lawsuit against his colleague, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, MP for Assin South, over a post made on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In the May 8, 2025 post, Rev. Fordjour alleged that Mr. Dafeamekpor, who also serves as Majority Chief Whip, was Vice Chairman of the Committee on Subsidiary Legislation at the time embattled former National Signals Bureau boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene allegedly paid GH¢360,000 to the committee to facilitate the passage of a Legislative Instrument (L.I.).
Rev. Fordjour further called for a full investigation into the matter, claiming the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other individuals implicated in the alleged misappropriation of funds must be held accountable.
These allegations are linked to Adu-Boahene’s ongoing legal battle involving charges of stealing, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.
Adu-Boahene has said that allowances of GH¢960,000 and GH¢309,000 were paid to members of the Defence and Interior Committee and the Subsidiary Legislation Committee, respectively, during the passage of the NSB Act and its L.I.
In his statement of claim, Mr. Dafeamekpor described the post as “false, malicious, and defamatory,” stating it had caused him economic harm, disrupted his professional activities, and inflicted emotional distress.
The suit demands a retraction and public apology, as well as an interlocutory and perpetual injunction to prevent further defamatory statements.
“The defamatory statements… are untrue and were made with calculated malice,” the suit reads.
The matter arises amid broader scrutiny over parliamentary oversight and financial dealings related to the NSB Act, with Adu-Boahene’s next court appearance scheduled for May 26.
