Political scientist Mohammed Abass has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to demonstrate transparency by releasing the much-anticipated Mike Oquaye post-election report before embarking on its nationwide “Thank You” tour.
In an interview with ABC News, Mr. Abass stated that the delay in publishing the report undermines the integrity of the party and leaves room for speculation, misinformation, and internal mistrust.
He warned that the party is a public entity with wide national interest. Keeping this report under wraps only breeds rumours that could be taken as truth.
Mr. Abass emphasized that the purpose of the tour should be clearly communicated to the party base, especially in the wake of disappointment following the 2024 electoral defeat.
He noted that the NPP must focus less on assigning blame to individuals and more on reflecting critically on the structural and strategic issues that led to their loss.
He indicated that the Mike Oquaye report is crucial to this introspection, adding that its timely release would have set a solid foundation for constructive engagement during the tour.
His comments come amid growing calls within the party for leadership to foster accountability and chart a clear path forward.
