The National Executive Committee Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nii Tan Sackey, has slammed the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) decision to declare former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta wanted, describing the move as a miscalculated legal pursuit.
Speaking on ABC’s morning show, Sackey predicted that the case would collapse due to lack of substance, branding it as a “foolish case.”
According to Sackey, public office holders should focus on diligent service to the nation, regardless of the administration they serve under.
However, he warned against politically motivated prosecutions that lack strong legal backing.
“He is a Ghanaian, so if he is doing his work and he is maintained by the President, so be it,” Sackey remarked, suggesting that appointees should be judged based on their competence rather than political affiliations.
He further cautioned the Special Prosecutor against initiating cases that cannot withstand legal scrutiny, arguing that such actions only weaken the credibility of the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
“Before a person of his caliber is taken out of office, there must be evidence that the person is not able to perform his duties,” Sackey emphasized.
