Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has blamed persistent political interference for delays in ongoing demolition exercises across the region.
Speaking to ABC News GH on Monday, she stressed the urgency of addressing illegal structures, particularly those on waterways, as part of a broader flood prevention strategy.
“Political interference is hindering the demolition exercise,” she stated, warning that continued delays will only worsen the region’s flooding challenges.
Ocloo revealed plans to meet with all District and Municipal Chief Executives this week to streamline the exercise. “Next week we are going to do a mass demolition to put things in order,” she declared.
The minister also called on residents to avoid building on waterways, emphasizing that such practices are a major contributor to flooding.
“If we don’t meet each other we are not getting anywhere,” she added, urging collective responsibility and cooperation from both officials and the public.
