Lawyer Kwame Adofo has called for the removal of the Attorney General (AG) following recent allegations made by Adu Boahene, which have raised concerns about the AG’s conduct in handling sensitive information.
Speaking on ABC News GH, Adofo linked Boahene’s media publications, which claimed that certain government officials received money, to the AG’s press briefing, where he disclosed details about the case and the allegations.
Adofo emphasized that by publicly discussing such matters, the AG risks undermining his own case and violating principles of confidentiality.
Adofo added that the AG must go back to the core principles of legal practice.
“Of course, he has to defend himself,” Adofo noted, but he argued that public statements of this nature are an “inducement” on the AG personally.
He concluded that the Attorney General is not fit for his position, calling for his immediate removal to maintain the integrity of the justice system.
These comments come in the wake of Boahene’s recent revelations, which have sparked controversy regarding the involvement of high-ranking officials in an embezzlement scandal.
The legal community and public alike are watching closely as the situation unfolds, with Adofo’s statements adding fuel to the ongoing debate about accountability and transparency in government positions.
