Dr. Samuel Afriyie has questioned the decision of the current government to revoke appointments made by the former administration, calling it a detrimental move.
On ABC Midday News, he said, “It is creating problems for all of us. It’s something that is not helping us.”
He emphasized that the president could have chosen a different way to address the situation, which has led to significant unrest.
Dr. Afriyie also acknowledged the efforts of former Vice President Bawumia in condemning the act, drawing comparisons to the previous government’s failure to effectively tackle the Galamsey issue.
Meanwhile, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State for Government Communications, has defended the decision to revoke appointments made after December 7, 2024, citing irregularities in the recruitment process.
Ofosu explained that some individuals were issued backdated appointment letters to create a false impression of prior employment.
Speaking in defense of the move, he assured that the new government would implement a transparent recruitment process, open to all Ghanaians regardless of political affiliation.
“We cannot allow such irregularities to stand,” he emphasized, stressing the importance of ensuring fairness in the process.
