President John Dramani Mahama has nominated 15 individuals for ambassadorial and high commissioner roles in a significant diplomatic reshuffle aimed at advancing Ghana’s global interests.
The list includes celebrated actress Kalsoume Sinare, former La-Dadekotopon MP Nii Amasah Namoale, and former Kumasi Mayor Kojo Bonsu.
Also appointed are distinguished academics—former KNUST Vice Chancellor Professor Kwasi Obiri-Danso and Associate Professor Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh, the first female Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast.
The nominations, made after consultations with the Council of State in accordance with Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution, were detailed in a letter dated June 10, 2025, signed by Secretary to the President, Dr. Callistus Mahama.
Kalsoume Sinare, a well-known face in Ghanaian cinema and an outspoken supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been nominated as Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.
Her appointment, however, has sparked quiet conversations within the party, as her cousin Alhaji Said Sinare—former Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and a seasoned party figure—was reportedly also under consideration.
With a film career spanning over fifty productions, Sinare’s move into diplomacy marks a symbolic and strategic blend of cultural representation and political loyalty on the international stage.
Also nominated is Nii Amasah Namoale, tapped for the role of Ambassador to the Federative Republic of Brazil. A long-serving Member of Parliament and agronomist, Namoale brings to the role a depth of experience in public service and agriculture, having served as Deputy Minister of Agriculture.
His appointment is expected to reinforce Ghana’s engagement in South America, particularly in areas of trade and agribusiness.
