Economist and statistician Dr. Ebo Duncan has cast doubt on the feasibility of fully implementing Ghana’s proposed 24-hour economy framework within four years.
Speaking on ABC News, he emphasized the complexity of executing such an economic shift, cautioning that while some sectors may adapt quickly, achieving full-scale implementation across all industries would be a formidable challenge.
“It’s easy to say these things, but it’s not easy to implement,” Dr. Duncan remarked.
He further stressed that if the agricultural sector is to serve as the backbone of the 24-hour economy, urgent measures must be taken to address the ongoing menace of illegal mining, or galamsey, which continues to threaten agricultural productivity.
His comments highlight the structural challenges that must be addressed before Ghana can successfully transition to a round-the-clock economic model.
