Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communication (GIFEC), Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, has called for transparency and accountability in the resolution of the disputed Ablekuma North parliamentary election.
Speaking on ABC News GH on Thursday, May 8, Dr. Tanko emphasized that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will not accept what he described as any “funfool declaration of election.”
He stressed that the party is determined to uncover any electoral irregularities and ensure that justice prevails.
“We are going to find out the criminalities in the various constituencies,” he stated, revealing that the NDC has officially written to both the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Electoral Commission (EC) to investigate alleged criminal acts surrounding the 2024 election.
Dr. Tanko insisted that citizens should not be concerned about delays in the process, but rather be assured that the right procedures are being followed.
“We want the right thing to be done,” he reiterated, stressing the NDC’s commitment to electoral integrity.
His comments come in the wake of a formal request by IGP Christian Tetteh Yohuno to the EC, asking for a comprehensive plan to resume and complete the collation and declaration of results for the Ablekuma North constituency.
The IGP’s move, communicated during a high-level meeting at the CID headquarters in Accra on May 8, 2025 signals the importance placed on transparency and public confidence in the electoral process.
Security agencies have pledged their support to ensure the process unfolds peacefully and credibly.
