Following his swearing-in, President John Dramani Mahama has been actively making key appointments, with 25 ministers confirmed so far, leaving 35 positions still pending.
The President had promised during his campaign to limit the government to just 60 ministers, a move that has sparked debate, with some arguing that this goal is near impossible, as the minimum number required might exceed 62.
This has left many eagerly awaiting the names of the remaining officials who will steer the country’s future.
Among the anticipated appointments, unverified sources have suggested that Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo is being considered for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), while Randy Abbey is tipped for the role of CEO at the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
Other names reportedly in the mix include Edward Abambire Bawa for Ghana Gas and Yayra Koku for the National Identification Authority (NIA), with Kofi Adams potentially being appointed as the new Sports Minister.
These appointments are yet to be confirmed.
The President’s office has yet to release an official statement, leaving the political landscape abuzz with speculation.
As the nation waits for confirmation, the appointments could set the tone for Mahama’s leadership in the second phase of his administration.
