Ghana’s National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has delivered a powerful Eid-Al-Adha message, calling for a renewed commitment to moral values, interfaith harmony, and global peace amid ongoing conflicts, particularly in Gaza.
Addressing the nation ahead of the festival on Friday, June 6, 2025, the Chief Imam urged Ghanaians and the international community to reflect deeply on the spiritual essence of Eid, describing it as more than a ritual but a call to personal integrity, societal reform, and a rejection of violence.
“Eid-Al-Adha is a festivity of sacrifice and an opportunity to reaffirm our faith in Allah,” he said, citing Qur’an Chapter 22, Verse 37: “Allah is not interested in the flesh and blood of the animals sacrificed, but in our commitment to piety.”
Delivered through his Personal Assistant, Dr. Abubakari Mohammed Marzuq Azindoo, the Chief Imam warned that without genuine transformation, Eid risks becoming a hollow ritual.
He condemned “genocidal impunity and moral bankruptcy,” especially in Gaza, urging world leaders to choose peace over violence and justice over oppression.
He called for a global order built on shared values—“RIGHT over might, UNITY over disunity, FORGIVENESS over vindictiveness”—and invoked the unifying legacy of Prophet Abraham as a path for Christians, Jews, and Muslims to promote peaceful coexistence.
