The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Okudzeto Ablakwa, is calling on the general public to promptly report to the Ministry if they have relatives involved in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.
The Minister disclosed that the government currently has limited information regarding about 14 Ghanaians who are believed to be fighting on the frontlines.
According to him, the lack of detailed data is making it difficult for authorities to trace, reach out, or offer any form of assistance to the individuals in question.
Mr. Ablakwa is therefore appealing to families and the wider public to come forward with any credible leads to help the Ministry in its efforts to ensure the safety and welfare of affected Ghanaians abroad.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it is actively working to reintegrate and reunite Ghanaians facing deportation from the United States.
Speaking at a press briefing in Accra ahead of the ECOWAS at 50 launch, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa assured that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of 160 Ghanaian citizens on the US deportation list.
He added that there has been no change in status since the last update from Ghana’s mission in Washington.
