Member of Parliament for Jomoro, Dorcas Affo-Toffey, has revealed that ten electric buses have already arrived in Ghana, with four currently in operation.
She made the disclosure during her vetting by Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, 2025. Affo-Toffey has been nominated by President John Mahama to serve as Deputy Minister of Transport.
Her statement was in response to questions concerning the country’s transition to environmentally friendly public transport solutions.
According to the nominee, the deployment of electric vehicles, particularly buses, aligns with Ghana’s broader agenda to reduce carbon emissions and modernize the transport sector.
The vetting session formed part of the final round of deputy ministerial assessments under the current administration.
Dorcas Affo-Toffey was among four nominees appearing before the Appointments Committee, alongside James Gyakye Quayson (Foreign Affairs), Mohammed Adam Sukparu (Communication and Digital Technology), and Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah (Health).
The nominees are expected to support their respective ministers in enhancing public service delivery following parliamentary approval.
