Bernice Naah, Executive Director of the Africa Centre for Human Rights and Sustainable Development, as part of preparations for the celebration of International Women’s Day, has called on the government to take deliberate steps in appointing women to leadership positions.
Speaking on ABC IN THE MORNING, she emphasized the need for proactive efforts in identifying and appointing qualified women into decision-making roles.
“We need to be intentional about identifying women who are capable of taking part in these decision-making processes and then appoint them,” she stressed.
Bernice further noted that with the passage of the Affirmative Action Gender Act last year, the government has no excuse for failing to include more women in governance.
She urged President John Dramani Mahama the opportunity to bridge the gender gap and prioritize female leadership.
