The Minister of Communications, Hon. Sam George, has directed all telecom operators in Ghana to make critical investments in their networks between July and September 2025, aimed at significantly improving service delivery.
In a press briefing held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 the Minister disclosed that a nationwide Quality of Service (QoS) assessment will commence in the final quarter of the year, from October to December 2025. Operators who fail to meet the required standards will face sanctions.
“I have mandated that all operators make critical investments in their networks to improve quality over the next quarter. The regulator will commence a vigorous assessment in the final quarter. Defaulting operators will be sanctioned,” the Minister warned.
This directive follows consultations with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of the major telecom operators — MTN, AirtelTigo, and Telecel — as part of government efforts to address growing concerns about poor service and expensive data packages in Ghana.
The Ministry has assured Ghanaians that it remains committed to improving both the affordability and quality of mobile data and telecommunication services.
