Policy Lead and Climate Change & Energy Transition Director at the Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Dr. Charles Gyamfi Ofori, has weighed in on the ongoing power outages across the country.
Speaking on ABC’s morning show, he stressed that the government holds the primary responsibility for addressing the crisis and ensuring a stable power supply.
Dr. Gyamfi noted that despite different administrations, the fundamental issue remains unchanged—many Ghanaians still lack consistent access to electricity.
He emphasised that citizens have every right to be frustrated over the prolonged outages, urging authorities to take decisive action.
Dr. Gyamfi further called on the government to be more proactive in resolving the power crisis.
He underscored the need for transparency in managing the energy sector, urging authorities to address distribution inefficiencies and curb both technical and commercial losses.
According to him, honesty and accountability in the sector’s management will be key to finding a lasting solution.
