President John Mahama has reiterated his commitment to upholding Ghanaian cultural and religious values by recognizing only two genders—male and female.
Speaking at a meeting with the clergy at the Accra International Conference Center, he assured religious leaders that his administration would stand by traditional principles in governance.
Additionally, he revealed that his government is in discussions with the Speaker of Parliament to have the anti-LGBTQ+ bill reintroduced as a government-sponsored bill rather than a private members’ bill.
In the same meeting, President Mahama announced plans to establish a National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day Planning Committee, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to faith and national unity.
The President had previously declared July 1 as a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, aimed at bringing the country together in reflection and gratitude.
This initiative aligns with his broader agenda of integrating faith-based principles into governance and national development.
