The Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with the National Signals Bureau (NSB) and the Nigeria Police Force, has successfully rescued two kidnapped women, including Ama Serwaa Konadu, whose brutal ordeal captured in a viral video sparked nationwide outrage.
The disturbing footage showed the 39-year-old victim, a well-known hairdresser and event decorator from Asiakwa in the Eastern Region, being assaulted with a machete and stripped naked while her abductors circulated the video to her family via her own phone.
The video, released just a day after she went missing on April 22, triggered intense public concern and calls for immediate action.
In a swift and coordinated joint operation, eight suspects were arrested across multiple hideouts in Ghana and Nigeria.
The law enforcement teams worked seamlessly across borders, pooling intelligence and operational resources to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the successful rescue and ongoing investigations, stating that further details of the operation would be made public in due course.
The police acknowledged the critical role of the NSB and Nigeria Police in tracking down the suspects and ensuring the victims’ safe recovery.
