Asante Kotoko have once again reshuffled their technical bench, naming Hamza Obeng as interim head coach for the remainder of the 2025/26 season following the resignation of Prince Yaw Owusu.
Owusu, who had been serving in an interim capacity, stepped down from his role after a difficult spell marked by inconsistent performances. His exit adds to a period of instability on the Kotoko bench, which has already seen multiple changes this season.
The former interim coach had taken over duties after the departure of Karim Zito, who left the position in the aftermath of Kotoko’s FA Cup loss to Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium.
In confirming the latest development, the Kumasi-based club indicated that Owusu had formally submitted his resignation, explaining that he believed stepping aside would serve the best interests of the team.
Kotoko have now turned to Obeng, who has been in charge of the club’s youth team, the Young Porcupines, to guide the senior side through the final phase of the campaign.
“In the interim, Youth Team Coach Hamza Obeng will take charge of the team for the remaining games of the season,” the club announced.
With 29 matches played in the league, Kotoko currently occupy sixth position with 43 points, and will be hoping the change in leadership can provide the spark needed to finish the season strongly.
