Anti-corruption advocate and AU Advisory Board member Edem Senanu has criticized the legal team representing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, suggesting their approach has been counterproductive and needlessly confrontational.
In an interview with ABC News GH, Senanu expressed disappointment in what he described as a missed opportunity to cooperate constructively with investigative authorities.
“I am disappointed in how the lawyers of Ken Ofori-Atta have handled this,” Senanu said, referring to their posture toward the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
“They should not unnecessarily antagonize the Special Prosecutor,” he warned, adding that their handling of the matter has eroded public trust and complicated efforts to ensure transparency.
His comments follow recent developments in Parliament, where the Speaker announced plans to introduce legislation enabling lifestyle audits for individuals suspected of acquiring unexplained wealth.
Senanu urged legal representatives of public officials to engage transparently with oversight bodies, noting that a collaborative approach would help restore confidence in the justice system and avoid perceptions of political interference.
