The National Labour Commission (NLC) has secured an injunction from the High Court, Industrial and Labour Division in Accra, effectively halting the nationwide strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA).
The court ruling, delivered on June 5, 2025, by Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori, restrains the GRNMA, including its executives, officers, and members, from continuing their industrial action.
The injunction, granted following an ex-parte motion by the NLC, will be in effect for ten days, after which the Commission must return to court on notice if further legal steps are needed.
The NLC had earlier declared the strike illegal and directed the association to call it off, citing disruptions to healthcare services across the country.
The GRNMA initiated the strike to protest delays in the implementation of their 2024 Collective Agreement, particularly issues relating to unpaid allowances and delayed postings.
