Staff of the National Identification Authority (NIA), under the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU), have suspended their nationwide strike, which began on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, over unpaid Operational Support Allowances.
The decision to halt the industrial action was officially announced in a public notice issued on Sunday, June 29, and signed by the NIA’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah E. Darlas.
According to Mr. Ampomah, the suspension followed extensive engagements with key stakeholders including the National Labour Commission (NLC), the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), the Ministry of Finance, and the leadership of the PSWU.
“Management acknowledges and appreciates the good faith demonstrated by the Union and wishes to assure all staff that their legitimate concerns remain a priority and will continue to receive the urgent attention they deserve,” the statement emphasized.
The NIA expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to the public during the industrial action and extended gratitude for the patience and understanding shown.
The Authority assured that all offices and registration centres across the country will resume full operations starting Monday, June 30, 2025, and reaffirmed its commitment to providing efficient and reliable identification services to all Ghanaians.
