The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has invalidated the Constituency Executive Elections conducted in Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa, citing serious violations of party directives, electoral regulations and, in some cases, existing court orders.
The decision was reached by the party’s National Steering Committee during a meeting on Wednesday, July 15, where it reviewed reports from the nationwide constituency executive elections held over the weekend.
In a statement jointly signed by Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said the elections in the three constituencies were conducted “in flagrant disregard of Party directives, the Rules and Regulations governing the 2026 Constituency Executive Elections, and, where applicable, subsisting court orders.”
As a result, the party announced that the election results from Bantama, Afigya Sekyere East and Adansi Asokwa have been annulled with immediate effect.
The National Steering Committee has also directed the Ashanti Regional Steering Committee to appear before it on Tuesday, July 21, to account for the circumstances that led to the conduct of the elections in the affected constituencies.
The annulment follows controversies that marred parts of the constituency executive elections in the Ashanti Region over the weekend.
Meanwhile, the NPP disclosed that election-related concerns involving Asante Akyem Central, along with all other unresolved disputes arising from the constituency executive elections across the country, have been referred to the Electoral Affairs Committee of the National Council.
According to the party, the committee has been tasked with examining the outstanding issues and providing recommendations before any further action is taken.
The NPP reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening internal democracy, assuring members that it would continue to uphold the rule of law while ensuring strict compliance with the party’s constitution and electoral regulations.
It added that the measures are aimed at safeguarding “the integrity, credibility, and transparency of its internal democratic processes.”
