Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Defence and Interior Committee, has called for an urgent investigation into serious allegations of financial misappropriation at the National Security Secretariat.
His demand comes in response to a public exposé by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau, who claims that millions of cedis were diverted to political campaigns and select parliamentary committees.
In a strongly worded social media post on May 7, Ntim Fordjour described the claims as “shocking, scary and a major national security scandal!!!”
Citing specific figures, the MP alleged that GH¢8.3 million was funneled to support the National Democratic Congress (NDC) during the peak of the 2024 election campaign.
He also referenced GH¢960,000 allegedly allocated to the Defence and Interior Committee during 2020/21 to facilitate legislation, and GH¢309,000 to the Subsidiary Legislation Committee in 2024.
Additionally, GH¢5.135 million was purportedly used to fund President Mahama’s Special Aides in December 2024. Fordjour emphasized that these amounts, if confirmed, represent a grave abuse of public resources.
“The taxpayer deserves a thorough and transparently conducted probe into the above financial impropriety,” he wrote. Rev. Ntim Fordjour urged the Inspector-General of Police, the Auditor-General, and Parliament’s oversight bodies to initiate a swift and credible investigation.
“Only a publicly credible investigation will restore confidence in our national security institutions,” he concluded, warning that anything less would erode public trust and compromise national accountability standards.
