The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has renewed his call for Minister Okudzeto Ablakwa to resign following reports that Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang returned to Ghana on a private jet.
Speaking to ABC News GH’s Samuel Nyigmabo at Parliament today, Ntim Fordjour reminded the public that while in opposition, Ablakwa vehemently criticized such private jet trips by then-President Nana Akufo-Addo as extravagant and a burden on the public purse.
“Today they are doing the same,” Fordjour said, pointing to what he sees as a clear double standard.
He further referenced Ablakwa’s past public promises to resign if his party used private jets during their tenure.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Ntim Fordjour challenged Ablakwa to honor his earlier stance.
“Okudzeto Ablakwa… do the honorable thing and resign without delay,” he urged. Fordjour accused Ablakwa of making “populist stunts” that won applause but ignored official realities.
“You were unequivocal in your promise. You challenged Ghanaians that you would resign as Minister if your Presidency utilized a private jet during their term,” he added.
Fordjour argued that the alleged use of public funds for Vice President Opoku-Agyemang’s flight is a blatant violation of those principles.
As of this report, Ablakwa has not responded.
