The General Secretary of the General Agriculture Workers Union, Andrews Tagoe, has demanded accountability for the diversion of fertilizer funds, calling for legal sanctions against those involved.
In a passionate call ahead of the Mid-Year Budget Review, he declared, “Let’s put legislative instruments, sanction officials who divert fertilizer fundings… Those people must be punished, we should be able to bring those people to book.”
Mr. Tagoe noted that such actions undermine national food security and erode public trust in government interventions.
He argued that the diversion of essential agricultural resources directly affects farmers and stifles productivity in critical sectors like food production and agro-processing.
He stressed the importance of transparency and enforcement in agricultural governance, urging policymakers to act decisively.
As the Finance Minister prepares to deliver the budget review, Tagoe’s message reflects growing frustration within the agriculture sector over mismanagement and weak oversight.
