Member of Parliament for Walewale and a member of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Dr. Tia Kabiru Mahama, has stated that Mr. Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of Goldbod, must be held accountable under Ghana’s laws following a widely circulated video that captured him gifting large bundles of U.S. dollars to Evangelist Nana Agradaa.
According to Dr. Kabiru, such actions may constitute a breach of the Foreign Exchange Act and merit scrutiny, regardless of political affiliations.
“The law must apply equally,” he stressed, adding that the involvement of the minority in defending Mr. Gyamfi does not absolve him of accountability.
Meanwhile, a private citizen, Eric Dumenu Akatsi, has formally petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), raising concerns about what he described as a “suspicious display of wealth” by Mr. Gyamfi.
The incident occurred on Saturday, May 10, 2025, and Akatsi, referencing Article 218(e) of the 1992 Constitution, is urging CHRAJ to launch a full-scale investigation into the source of Mr. Gyamfi’s wealth.
He labelled the public gifting of dollars as “a perfectly clear instance of alleged engagement in suspected corruption,” and further claimed that Mr. Gyamfi holds two private accounts at Consolidated Bank Ghana with combined balances allegedly exceeding GHS 100 million.
