Aggrieved youth in Bole, the hometown of President John Dramani Mahama, have staged a violent protests over the exclusion of their Member of Parliament, Alhaji Yusif Sulemana, from the President’s list of ministerial appointments.
The protesters, who felt betrayed after assurances of a ministerial position during the campaign, burned car tyres in front of the house of Mahama’s late father and threatened to torch the local NDC office unless their demands were met.
The unrest follows the President’s announcement of 26 ministerial nominees, which notably left out the Bole-Bamboi Constituency.
In response, MP Yusif Sulemana appealed for calm, urging the youth to desist from actions that could tarnish the constituency’s reputation.
In a statement, he reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to Mahama’s leadership, emphasizing his support for the President’s decisions and commitment to serving the people of Bole-Bamboi.
“Please do not take the law into your own hands or engage in actions that could bring embarrassment to us all,” Sulemana pleaded, calling for unity and adherence to the rule of law.
