The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the provisional results for the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for Private Candidates, Second Series.
A total of 38,316 candidates sat for the exams, consisting of 17,596 males and 21,131 females, while 1,354 registered candidates were absent.
However, WAEC detected several cases of examination malpractice, leading to the withholding of subject results for 303 candidates and full results for 108 candidates, pending further investigations.
Performance across the core subjects varied significantly, with 54.79% of candidates securing A1-C6 in English, while 13.45% scored an F9.
Mathematics had a nearly equal pass and fail rate, with 37.44% earning A1-C6 and 37.42% failing.
Integrated Science recorded a 53.31% pass rate, while Social Studies had the highest success rate, with 87.88% scoring A1-C6.
WAEC has urged candidates to avoid fraudsters claiming to upgrade results for a fee, emphasizing the security of its database. Candidates can check their results online at www.waecgh.org.
However, many have criticized WAEC for failing to comply with its promise to release all outstanding results by March 1, 2025. What is NUGS, as a key stakeholder, saying about this? Stay tuned for more updates.
