A Senior Nursing Officer at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital’s Psychiatry Department, Rabiatu Braimah, has sounded the alarm over a mental health crisis brewing among Ghana’s white-collar workforce.
Speaking to ABC News Gh, she revealed that stress, long hours, and relentless workplace pressures are pushing many professionals into anxiety, depression, and burnout.
She cautioned, emphasizing that many employees do not realize the toll their jobs take on their mental health until it’s too late, thus the need for urgent intervention.
With mental health stigma still prevalent, many workers suffer in silence, afraid of being judged or losing their jobs if they speak up.
Braimah urged companies to implement employee wellness programs and work-life balance policies to prevent a looming workforce crisis.
She warned that if we don’t act now, we’ll have offices full of employees who are physically present but mentally checked out.
