Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi, has dismissed calls to halt government business over activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor’s bribery allegations against the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Speaking during a heated parliamentary debate, Dafeamekpor argued that such claims must not paralyze critical parliamentary processes, stating, “Government business cannot be incapacitated because of mere allegations.”
This comes after Barker-Vormawor was summoned by Parliament’s Appointments Committee to substantiate his claims of bribery against the PAC.
The activist, known for his relentless critique of public institutions, is set to appear before the committee on Wednesday, January 29, to provide evidence.
Chairman of the Appointments Committee, Bernard Ahiafor, has dismissed the accusations as baseless, emphasizing that the committee’s integrity must be upheld.
Meanwhile, some NPP members have called for a suspension of vetting activities until the allegations are resolved, deepening divisions in an already contentious political landscape.
