Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minister-Designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, has clarified his stance on the sale of state lands, asserting that “not all state land sales are the same.”
Speaking during his vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, Ibrahim emphasized that legally conducted sales of state lands are permissible.
“Legal sale of state lands is not wrong,” he stated, stressing the need to differentiate lawful transactions from questionable practices.
The Appointments Committee, chaired by Bernard Ahiafor, continues its vetting process to evaluate nominees for various ministerial roles.
Ahmed Ibrahim further pledged to prioritize local economic development across Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) under his leadership.
The Committee’s proceedings today will also feature Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister-Designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Minister-Designate for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry.
