The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has assured Ghanaians that a robust post-planting strategy has been developed to sustain the twenty million tree seedlings being distributed under the government’s new national reforestation campaign, “Tree for Life.”
Speaking on ABC News GH, the Ministry’s Media Relations Officer, Paa Kwesi Schandorf, explained that the campaign is not just about planting trees but ensuring their long-term survival.
“We are engaging a lot of experts to facilitate and coordinate the project,” he noted. “After the planting, these coordinators will make sure there is a structure that is being implemented by the Ministry to sustain the plants.”
Mr. Schandorf encouraged all citizens to actively participate by visiting their local district offices to collect free seedlings, emphasizing that the initiative is a collective national responsibility.

“It’s something that all Ghanaians will feel more and thoroughly,” he said, adding that this year’s effort will be different. “We are greening the environment, and we are also empowering individuals to make the world better.”
The “Tree for Life” initiative, which runs from June 5 to June 30, 2025, was launched by Minister Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah in Parliament and aims to broaden participation beyond the single-day Green Ghana Day model.
Collaborating agencies include the Forestry Commission, local assemblies, traditional leaders, civil society, and environmental groups.
