The National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has voiced her disappointment over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) decision to re-run voting in only 19 polling stations.
Speaking to ABC News GH on Thursday, July 3 she explained that the NDC had initially proposed a re-run in 37 polling stations due to the unavailability of pink sheets for both parties in those locations.
However, the EC unilaterally decided to limit the re-run to 19 stations without consulting the stakeholders.
“We are not satisfied with the EC’s decision,” Aubynn stated, adding that, “we went into discussions expecting fairness, but this outcome is not what we hoped for.”
Despite her dissatisfaction, she acknowledged the importance of peace and unity in the constituency, noting that the party has accepted the decision in order to preserve stability and avoid prolonged tension.
She emphasized that the NDC’s ultimate aim is to serve the people of Ablekuma North, and for that reason, the party has chosen to move forward.
“Letting peace reign in the constituency is our priority,” she said. “We will continue to engage constructively, and we remain committed to the democratic process.”
