Joseph Boahen Aidoo, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), has resigned following a government directive on the cessation of boards of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs).
In his resignation letter addressed to President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Aidoo expressed appreciation for the trust placed in him by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the NPP government, and Ghanaians over his eight-year tenure.
He described his leadership at COCOBOD as “an incredible honour,” while noting the directive as the primary reason for stepping down.
Although his renewed appointment under the COCOBOD Law, 1984 (PNDCL 81), was set to end in July 2025, Mr. Aidoo opted for an early exit to ensure a smooth transition.
He emphasized the need for stakeholders and business partners to build timely relationships with the incoming leadership.
Reflecting on his tenure, he reaffirmed his dedication to Ghana’s cocoa sector and pledged to support the transition process, noting that his time at COCOBOD had been both “rewarding and enlightening.”
