The New Force has raised serious allegations against the Electoral Commission (EC) over the accreditation of polling agents, accusing the Commission of unfair practices and inefficiencies.
Speaking during a press conference, the party’s spokesperson revealed that despite having 552 constituency representatives qualified for accreditation cards, only 200 cards had been issued so far.
“We’ve had issues with the EC not willing to give us all the accreditation cards we have requested for,” the spokesperson lamented, further alleging instances of extortion by EC officials in the Eastern Region.
The Leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako, expressed his frustration, labeling the process discriminatory and chaotic.
“This is not just discrimination; we are being cheated, undermined, and restricted,” he said, citing the inconsistent requirements across regions for obtaining accreditation cards.
He criticized the EC for failing to provide clear criteria, saying, “If there are 13 presidential candidates, then we should deal with 13 people, not just 2 while the rest are treated as substitutes.”
Bediako also called for public awareness and media attention, urging Ghanaians to demand fairness and transparency in the democratic process.
Nana Kwame Bediako called for volunteers to support polling agents, doubting the EC’s willingness to rectify the issues. He emphasized the New Force’s commitment to peace and fairness, rejecting bribery and malpractice in the election process.
“This election is bringing a change, and nothing is going to stop that,” he declared. Urging Ghanaians to demand accountability, Bediako concluded, “If you want to vote for change, go ahead and do so.”
